Students will learn the basics, required to be an amazing baker! Grab your measuring cups, ingredients, apron and get ready to bake!
I love to bake and as a mother of 3 I am always baking healthy alternatives that exclude animal products.
Enjoy eating your donuts and sharing with your friends and family!
Ingredients 1 cup all purpose flour 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup soy milk 3 tablespoons melted vegan butter 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract GLAZE 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1/4 cup soy milk 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Tools/Utensils: Medium Bowl Small bowl to make the glaze and dip donuts in Whisk Donut pan Microwave bowl to melt vegan butter Spoon (dinner spoon) to fill up donut pan with batter Measuring cups (liquid and dry) Measuring spoons Apron (optional) Oven Microwave Optional: Apron Wire Rack -for cooling Parchment paper -put under Wire Rack for mess Notes** May substitute whole wheat pastry flour or spelt flour for the all purpose flour. I haven't tested them with gluten-free flour, but it would likely work. May use any kind of non-dairy milk in place of the soy milk.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Oven is used in class, grab your oven mitts! Oven will be pre-heated at beginning of class to 350 degrees - I will instruct students to do so. Microwave is used to melt vegan butter. The use of an oven will be required. Please ensure that you are nearby to help put the donuts pan in the oven, as well as help taking them out if you don't feel comfortable with your child doing it.
