In this one-time class, we will be baking delicious fruity scones you can enjoy any time of year!

Class Experience

After introductions and quick check-in about kitchen safety, we will get busy right away baking our scones. I will guide bakers to measure and mix up the dough. Bakers will see me put together the recipe step-by-step on my baking cam and follow along in their own kitchen. I will have them read and understand the recipe card as we bake by sharing the measurements and next steps. We will do everything together, including popping it into the oven! 

Once it is in the oven, we will mix up the glaze!

If time allows, we will also clean up and talk about baking fun facts related to our recipe!

*Recipe card will be sent a few days prior to class, but ingredients include:
All-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, butter, egg, dried cranberries, half and half, orange zest, powdered sugar, orange juice

*Important note: If your baker is new to working in the kitchen, please be available to help and guide them to ensure safety at all times. It is obviously critical that bakers have the necessary ingredients and equipment ready and available. Please be prepared so we can get started right away and feel free to message me prior to the class about any concerns or questions. Thank you!

Parental Guidance
Safety is most important! Although we will review kitchen safety best practices, bakers will be using various tools and appliances including the oven, of course, so parents or a trusted adult/older sibling should be nearby to provide assistance and supervision in person.

I love cooking and baking and making real food with simple ingredients for myself and my family. As a gymnast growing up, and then a dancer and runner in college, I was inspired to make healthy choices and learn to cook with fresh, whole ingredients. I studied all I could from culinary/fitness magazines and books for many years and even worked for a couple of food publications during my publishing days (Bon Appetit, for one!)…but I LOVE homemade desserts! I have found that it does not take long to make it yourself and then you know the ingredients going into it and your body! I enjoy sharing my food with friends and family, and am excited to share this recipe for young bakers to try!
