Students will learn:
How to follow a recipe
How to measure ingredients
How to knead and shape dough
How to be independent in the kitchen
I absolutely love baking. It started with helping my mom in the kitchen and now as I mother myself, I love making fun food items for my daughter. My husband and I love making food together and regularly make extravagant meals.
Biscuit Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 Tablespoon baking powder 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar 1 teaspoon salt 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter (very cold or frozen) ¾ cup milk Optional: extra butter (melted for tops of biscuits) Supplies: Oven Bowl Parchment paper Grater Wooden spoon Fork Sheet pan Measuring spoons and cups Cookie cutter (or something else to cut the biscuits with, I usually use a cup or mason jar ring) Optional: rolling pin Optional: small bowl Optional: basting brush
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class does involve using an oven, kitchen utensils, and stove top. I will cover safety tips but parental supervision is required throughout the class.
