Let's Act Out a Story With TOYS! Ages 4-7

In this one-time virtual class, students will bring their favorite toys—action figures, stuffed animals, dolls, or puppets—to life by acting out a short story with their peers. Great way to meet the teacher before signing up for a class.

Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner Level
In this one-time virtual class, young students will bring their favorite toys—action figures, stuffed animals, dolls, or even homemade puppets—to life by acting out a short story with their teacher and classmates. It's TONS of fun!! The teacher will guide the storytelling process, encouraging all the students to use their imagination, voice acting, and movement to bring the narrative to life.

Students will participate in an interactive storytelling experience with peers. Using their toys to act out funny scenes, they'll develop creative expression & learn fundamental storytelling elements such as character, setting, and plot. Learners will collaborate with their teacher and peers to build an engaging, shared story.

Benefits of the Class:
🎭 Encourages Creativity & Imagination
By using their toys as characters, students can create unique storylines and think outside the box.

🗣 Develops Communication & Language Skills
Acting out a story helps students practice expressive speaking, vocabulary, and storytelling techniques.

🤝 Promotes Social & Emotional Learning
Through role-playing, children explore different emotions, develop empathy, and learn problem-solving skills.

🎬 Enhances Engagement in Learning
A hands-on, play-based approach keeps students actively involved and excited about storytelling.

Examples of fun things we may be doing to encourage creativity in this class:
✨ Mystery Story Bag – Place random objects or toys in a bag and have students incorporate them into a spontaneous story as I pull them out.
🎭 Toy Theater Skits – Let students form small groups in break out rooms and create mini plays using their toys.
📖 Story Starter Prompts – Provide the beginning of a story and let students continue it, acting it out with their toys.
🎨 DIY Puppet-Making – Have students make their own puppets using socks, paper, or other craft materials, then perform short skits.
🌟 Choose-Your-Own-Adventure – The teacher presents different story paths, and students vote on where the story goes next!

A typical class will go like this:
First 5 minutes, teacher introduces herself and shows some of the toys she has to interact with, then asks students to share what they have brought to class. I will then explain to the learners what we will be doing in this particular class. We may roll dice to see who goes first, or even draw names from a bowl. I will start the story or have the first student start the story if they are comfortable doing so. The game can get really funny and silly quickly, which always serves to loosen up the kiddos and get them having fun. We may try different ideas or do multiple stories in one sitting. We will conclude the class with talking about our favorite parts and encouraging each other to keep our imaginations alive and creating.

Can't wait to see you in the classroom!😊

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a love for learning, and a HUGE love for kids! I am a former Nanny, Daycare teacher, and Preschool Activity Director. I've since been home to homeschool my own kiddos (ages 4- 17) :-) One of my absolute favorite activities to do with my little ones is acting out stories with toys! I host local homeschool get-togethers and it's always a really fun way for the kids to get to know one another and practice coming up with new ideas on the spot. Please feel free to check out my page and watch my teacher video detailing a little more about myself and my background. I hope to see you in one of my classes!
