40 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this 40 minute drawing class, students will have loads of fun drawing portraits of their favorite Mario Bros. characters as I teach them how to go from basic guide lines to fully drawn works of art! Each class starts out exactly the same with a brief introduction from me explaining the character we will be drawing that week, as well as how we will go about drawing it. After the brief intro, we'll move on to drawing our Mario character. During this portion, the students will follow along as I teach them step-by-step how to break down the Mario character into basic shapes and lines, known as guide lines, drawn in very lightly in pencil. Guide lines are the best and easiest way to make the end drawing exactly how they want. They help so well with proportion and confident finishing touches later! Once the guide lines are finished, we'll be using a black Sharpie marker to make the final lines. A lot of these final lines will be traced over the guide lines previously drawn. After the final lines are drawn, the pencil guide lines will be erased, leaving students with an amazing black and white portrait of their Super Mario Bros. character. After the guide lines are erased, students will use any extra time left over to color and make any additions to their epic drawings however they want! They can use colored pencils, markers, crayons or whatever else they like to color with in whatever color their imagination chooses. Students may even choose to leave their drawings black and white if it's a look they prefer. This is also a great time for students to get to chat and socialize with each other about their favorite Mario Bros. games, or whatever else they choose to talk about. Teaching students how to draw using something they love (like the Super Mario Bros.) is a great way to introduce basic drawing skills and judging proportion because each lesson is based on a character they visually know very well. I always love keeping my classes super fun and encouraging. Positive energy is a great way to either spark or continue a passion for art in any Super Mario Bros. Artist! At the end, students may show off their amazing drawings to the rest of the class! This class has been scheduled for a total of 8 weeks, but I made it an Ongoing class so families can enroll at any point. Here is what we will be drawing each week: -Week 1 from July 23rd-29th: Mario -Week 2 from July 30th-August 5th: Luigi -Week 3 from August 7th-12th: Princess Peach (No class August 6th) -Week 4 from August 13th-19th: Bowser -Week 5 from August 20th-26th: Yoshi -Week 6 from August 27th-September 2nd: Wario -Week 7 from September 3rd-9th: Waluigi -Week 8 from September 10th-16th: Princess Daisy **Note to the parents: This class requires lots of hand dexterity and hand eye coordination. Examples of this include drawing and erasing with light pressure, and being able to draw specific shapes and lines demonstrated on screen. Although I have designed each drawing to be done within the time frame of the class, I also know that each child learns at a different pace, works at a different speed, and has different levels of hand dexterity and hand eye coordination. I also don't know your child or the pace they work at. It is up to you as the parent to decide by looking at the thumbnail if you feel these kinds of drawings are too difficult and/or if you're not confident they can complete it in the time frame.**
Learning Goals
Students will learn drawing basics by starting out with lightly sketched guidelines drawn in pencil, and how to go over those basic guidelines with a Sharpie marker to give it a beautifully finished look.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
During each class, students will be using pencils and a sharpener if they need to sharpen their pencil, both of which can be very sharp. Students will also be using Sharpie markers because they dry quickly and don't easily smear or blead, however, I also know these markers are permanent and the smell can give people headaches. If you don't feel comfortable letting your children use Sharpie markers, you may let them use another type of marker. Just know that that a different type of marker might not dry as fast and smear or blead easier.

Here is the list of everything your child will need, the supply list will be the exact same each week for ease: - An 8 1/2 x 11 inch (22 x 28 cm) piece of white paper - A second sheet of paper either the same size or bigger to prevent the project bleeding through to the table -A nicely sharpened pencil -A pencil sharpener -An eraser -A black Sharpie marker -Anything your child likes to color with, be it colored pencils, crayons, markers, etc.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I've been passionate about drawing and sketching for as long as I can remember, but my technique truly improved when I went to an
Artist Sketch Night at a comic book store with older, more experienced artists. They gave me all sorts of tips on ways to ink, color and sketch, as well as ways to improve on anatomy and proportion. I also learned a lot by watching them use various techniques to get different effects with their artwork.
Ever since then, I've been able to sell prints of my original artwork at comic cons and vender events, post my original hand drawn animations on YouTube, have my original hand drawn animations featured on other YouTube channels, draw live sketches at comic cons, vendor events and Free Comic Book Day events, and been a guest artist at ImagiCon 2019.
