Class Experience

Bonjour, et bienvenue! Come join us for this world-themed class where we will talk about countries and languages in French. We will learn the French vocabulary for France / French, Spain / Spanish, The United States / English, and Canada.

The course will be mostly immersion-based (barring any necessary tech support or classroom commands in the beginning). Through the use of learning materials such as slides, GIFs, gestures, and props, most students should be able to understand the sentence frames and vocabulary. It is suitable for any introductory-level French student, as well as complete beginners. I keep my one-time class sizes small so that students can be comfortable in an intimate setting and get plenty of pronunciation and speaking practice.

The class will be structured as followed:
- Introducing ourselves (“Je m’appelle ______.”)
- Repetition of target vocabulary in isolation, followed by usage in a sentence
- Q & A practicing the verb "parler" (to speak) : modeled by teacher, then practiced by students (“Qu'est-ce qu'il parle ? Qu'est-ce qu'elle parle ?” [What does he speak? What does she speak?] —> “Il parle ____)…” / "Elle parle ____)…..." = [He / she plays the _____.]) We will also learn the verb "vivre" to talk about where people live.
- Au revoir … Goodbye!

Learning Goals

Students will gain confidence in speaking French! They will learn some vocabulary words to talk about different countries and languages in French and use the sentence frame "Il / elle parle...." to talk about the languages people speak. They will learn to introduce themselves, greet the group, and say goodbye.
