Students will learn the basics of composition and reading music in order to complete a music composition by the end of the class. Prior music knowledge is NOT required. Class 1: Note names in the bass and treble clef including ledger lines. Students will need a large base piece of LEGO to work on. Multiple flat pieces are helpful. Students will require a variety of sizes of LEGO to "write" with. Resources and printable worksheets for optional practice will be loaded in the classroom as needed. Students will be introduced to online resources (both free and not) that they are able to access to complete their composition. All resources will be supplied on a pdf to discuss with parents and use with parental approval only!
3 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
