Let's have fun with LEGO® math! This multi-day course will engage students through an exploration of math with manipulatives. We will use LEGO® bricks to practice a wide variety of 3rd grade concepts, such as multiplication, division, solving problems, understanding equations, area, perimeter, measurement, fractions, and graphing data. It is helpful for students to have their own multi-colored bricks, but it is not required. In addition, we will work on writing out equations and recording...
3rd Grade Level Standards: -Represent and solve problems involving multiplication and division (1st Class) -Multiply and divide within 100 (1st Class) -Understand concepts of perimeter/area and relate perimeter/area to addition and multiplication (2nd Class) -Solve problems involving measurement and estimation (3rd Class) -Develop understanding of fractions as numbers (4th Class) -Represent and interpret data (4th Class)
If possible, please provide your student with a variety of multi-colored LEGO® bricks (cubes and rectangular prisms), a notebook or blank paper, and a pencil. During our 3rd class meeting, your student will need a standard ruler or measuring tape.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
