This class is not an official product or has any kind of relationship with LEGO Group, owner of the LEGO® and LEGO® logo marks. Legos, Duplo or similar bricks are okay. It is okay to not have the colors of the objects/animals in the classes. The main goal is to accomplish the 2 main builds, and as time permits/allows we will aim to build extra objects. Learners may be encouraged to complete a “Mystery Build” where they build something and the Teacher and other Students have to guess what they have built. Pending time, a third build may/may not occur. Such builds may/may not include: Pizza, Zebra, Duck, Seahorse, Giraffe, Etc Our class is for the very beginner, but all levels are welcome from beginner to advanced. Learners are welcome to free-build and choose alternatives to the theme. Learners are also welcome to draw in class if needed, though building with blocks is the goal. We'll talk briefly about the topic/theme and I'll give a demonstration of the steps as we progress. A goal is to build without having to borrow from the previously built topic. For instance, I’d like to have a pyramid be “finished” and then move on to the next topic such as a cactus. But - it is quite okay if learners need to borrow bricks, plates, or other pieces to continue building the next topic. If some learners finish early, I may instruct them to add some details to it or to draw while others catch up. Every class is different and I get a feel for how to adjust in the moment. If we use a timer, it will be a guide and not a deadline to finish each build. This class is structured somewhat different from my other classes. While we will build our best using the Legos/Duplo Blocks that learners have in front of them, I recommend to consider having at least : Highly Recommended: Several 2X2 Lego/Duplo Bricks 2X2 (20 to 30 or more would be ideal, but we can use less if needed) Several 2X4 Lego/Duplo Bricks 2X4 (20 to 30 or more would be ideal, but we can use less if needed) Ideal, but we can work around it if your learner doesn't have these: Plate Pieces 2 X 2 / 2 X 4 Eye Pieces are ideal, but not required Any additional pieces may be substituted It is okay to mix and match colors and have variations and it’s okay to color/draw instead. This class encourages learners to talk about a different way of building from my instruction and it is okay to have variation in the final product. Each learner will make their own unique contribution. See you in class! Teacher John
Learning Goals
Students will aim to build the instructed build and socialize with other learners. Working with hand-eye coordination.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Be sure to have enough variety of Legos to build with. Preview the materials list to get a good idea of what is needed. Thank you for being on time as it is important that all learners build at once.
Pre-Requisites
Previous Duplo or Lego building is helpful, but not required. This club is for beginners.
Supply List
Thank you for being on time for this class. I can wait a minute or two, though the class will flow much more smoothly when everyone is on time or very close to the start time. While we will build our best using the Legos/Duplo Blocks that learners have in front of them, I recommend to consider having at least : Highly Recommended: Several 2X2 Lego/Duplo Bricks 2X2 (20 to 30 or more would be ideal, but we can use less if needed) Several 2X4 Lego/Duplo Bricks 2X4 (20 to 30 or more would be ideal, but we can use less if needed) Ideal, but we can work around it if your learner doesn't have these: Plate (Flat) Pieces 2 X 2 / 2 X 4 Eye Pieces are ideal, but not required
