In this one time class, students will use legos to learn more about math equations. The legos will help see how to balance addition and subtraction equations.

This class will use legos to explore ways to make balanced math equations. Through the hands-on exploration, students will find ways to make each side of the balance scale equal. We will explore how to make numbers, values, and equations be equal. Students will find the missing number to balance the sides, discover which numbers can be added together to balance the sides, and create addition and subtraction equations to show the balance. This class will be a fun way for students explore addition and subtraction. Hands-on learning is always the most effective method for understanding the fundamentals of math. This hands-on class will help students understand the relationships between numbers which will help them be better problem solvers and mathematicians. Each class will consist of hands-on learning activities and application activities. Students are welcome to have a "show and tell" lego creation to share at the end of class.

Students will improve their math skills by exploring how to make numbers and equations equal to one another.
