Builders will use Lego® Bricks to create solutions to overcome obstacles as they build their way through a Lego® Adventure. This class includes some special twists and features for 9-12 year old builders.
Class experience
This one-time class similar to my other adventure building classes but it is specifically designed for a bit older builders ages 9-12. There are a few added twists and challenges that I think will appeal to older builders. This is a hands-on, very interactive class. It is my goal for Builders to experience: confidence in speaking and explaining their builds to others, social growth and good character when speaking and responding, determination to try new techniques/challenges, and an opportunity to share their creativity with others. As a Lego® League Jr coach, I have had experience with encouraging children to listen and respect one another and their ideas, to problem solve, and to celebrate the joy of building.
Students should have a tub of loose Lego® bricks with them to use in class for building challenges and techniques. Students should bring a dice if they have one handy (if they do not, I can roll for them when needed). Having a baseplate and mini-figure nearby would also be helpful.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
