Legends of Druidawn® 1.0: Beginners (RPG) Camp
What's included
8 live meetings
8 in-class hoursHomework
2-4 hours per week. This camp style beginner class squishes 8 weeks of Druidawn®/character "homework" into a single week, so there's a lot of work to accomplish. 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤: Day 1 the homework is necessary as the student needs to create a character. Each day afterwards there will be optional homework. If the student chooses not to do the homework, after day 1, the adventure will likely not be as enjoyable but it's still possible to get through without it. The homework will be explain verbally to the students and posted on Outschool to the parents so that everyone knows what work should be completed. Students can put in as little or as much time as they choose. Their characters will benefit from their efforts. I encourage the students to send me their homework electronically but that is not required. They can do all their homework written on paper and either send me a picture OR just don't send it in at all. Either way is good. 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Ability to write at least basic sentences. There is some reading of homework aloud in class. The homework is tailored to YOUR child's abilities. Although most of the homework is optional, I promise your child will want to complete each week's assignment.Class Experience

𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐰𝐧® 𝟏.𝟎: 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 This is an Official Quest Licensed by Druidawn® Inc. written by the creators of Druidawn® Miriam Darnell and Cara Allen. Legends of Druidawn® 1.0 uses cooperative fantasy role playing (dragons, elves, quick-sand OH MY!) to stimulate the imaginations of the players and becomes an excellent source of ideas. Legends of Druidawn® motivates children to write creatively. Players will participate in a verbally interactive story-adventure that requires imaginative, cooperative problem-solving in order to overcome obstacles. Legends of Druidawn® 1.0 and the AMAZING world of Druidawn® 1.0 was created by Miriam Darnell and Cara Allen in 1990. www.druidawn.org The teacher will guide the players through various adventures with the help of maps, dice, and character sheets. Think cooperative Dungeon and Dragons (D&D) but with a creative writing element. Druidawn® classes are always sure to be fun, interesting, and a little crazy! 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏 Tales of how Druidawn® came to exist. Character creation information and how the game works. This week requires a lot of listening, the student interactions will begin in earnest on day 2. 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝟐-𝟕 The adventure unfolds as our characters travel to the Knight's training grounds and beyond. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟖 The characters complete their training and are awarded their Knight status. Now they are in the service of the queen and will be called upon to partake in many adventures throughout the Druidawn® kingdom. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: This class involves a lot of interaction with the teacher and other students. Please be sure that your child has a good internet connection and can hear/be heard clearly on Zoom. Learning Goals
Learners will be exposed to a variety of creative writing assignments (descriptive, persuasive, expository, reflective, personal). These assignments will be central or at times work to enhance the action their character's are experiencing.
Learners will work together to problem solve throughout the adventure.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Be aware that Druidawn adventures do have various undead and enemies attacking the knights. As in all Druidawn® adventures there is always a peaceful option that the knights may choose but quite frequently they choose a chaotic resolution. Battling, blood, weapons, killing are usually part of a chaotic resolution.
Natural disasters may be part of this class as well.
Characters and pets may be in peril throughout the stories.
Supply List
There will be handouts. PDF, JPG and Word. A few of the pages the students will need to refer to often. You can keep them all digitally if you are a traveling family or print them all out (about 20-30 pages over the course of the class). You will need 1 20-sided die and 2 6-sided dice during each class. I recommend that each student has a 3 ring binder to keep all their materials in, for easy reference, if printing.
7 files available upon enrollment
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I first experienced Druidawn® as a participant alongside my son. We quickly became enamored with the adventures and with leveling up our beloved characters. Soon I was having fun teaching Druidawn® myself, leading classes through mythical and magical lands. I have been been using Legends of Druidawn® to encourage students to write for many years. Words are currency in Druidawn®. 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞!
