Druidawn® is a cooperative, interactive role playing game (RPG) that uses creative writing and problem solving to overcome obstacles in a group setting. Think DnD but with an added element!

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner - Advanced Level
  • Learners will work together to problem solve throughout the adventure.
  • Learners will be exposed to a variety of creative writing assignments (descriptive, persuasive, expository, reflective, personal). These assignments will be central or at times work to enhance the action their character's are experiencing.
I first experienced Druidawn® as a participant alongside my son. We quickly became enamored with the adventures and with leveling up our beloved characters. Soon I was having fun teaching Druidawn® myself, leading classes through mythical and magical lands. I have been been using Legends of Druidawn® to encourage students to write for many years. Words are currency in Druidawn®. 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞!

Homework
Frequency: included
Feedback: included
Details: 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤: Week 1 the homework is necessary as the student needs to create a character. Each week afterwards there will be optional homework. If the student chooses not to do the homework, after week 1, the adventure will likely not be as enjoyable but it's still possible to get through without it. The homework will be explain verbally to the students and posted on Outschool to the parents so that everyone knows what work should be completed. Students can put in as little or as much time as they choose. Their characters will benefit from their efforts. I encourage the students to send me their homework electronically but that is not required. They can do all their homework written on paper and either send me a picture OR just don't send it in at all. Either way is good. 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Ability to write at least basic sentences. There is some reading of homework aloud in class. The homework is tailored to YOUR child's abilities. Although most of the homework is optional, I promise your child will want to complete each week's assignment.
 7 files available upon enrollment
There will be handouts. PDF, JPG and Word. A few of the pages the students will need to refer to often. You can keep them all digitally if you are a traveling family or print them all out (about 20-30 pages over the course of the class). You will need 1 20-sided die and 2 6-sided dice during each class. I recommend that each student has a 3 ring binder to keep all their materials in, for easy reference, if printing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Be aware that Druidawn adventures do have various undead and enemies attacking the knights. As in all Druidawn® adventures there is always a peaceful option that the knights may choose but quite frequently they choose a chaotic resolution. Battling, blood, weapons, killing are usually part of a chaotic resolution.
Natural disasters may be part of this class as well.
Characters and pets may be in peril throughout the stories.

A lot of our travel involves Pokémon (the card game)...
