Description

Class Experience

Students will explore the significance of traditions and customs.
I am offering this project-based learning opportunity because I believe that they're highly effective due to the way they incorporate multiple aspects of learning. It's always great for kids to take the skills they're learning and have the opportunity to apply them in a fun, exciting, real-world scenario. I have used several project-based learning activities in my own teaching and am always so pleased to see the students engaged with what they're learning!
Students will complete assigned sheets that will guide them through creating:
-one festivity
-one recipe
-one tradition

*I will also provide a simple recipe for mini apple pies that students can make and bring to Class Two if they choose to.
-pens, pencils, markers -basic apple pie ingredients: mini-pie crust, apple pie filling, whipped cream, cinnamon
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
NOTE TO PARENTS: The apple pie recipe will NOT require use of a stove, but will simply involve combining pre-cooked ingredients such as pie filling and pre-baked mini-crusts. However, as we will be using a food activity as homework, please be advised that any concerns regarding food allergies should be evaluated prior to registering for this class in order to decide if this is a suitable class for you and your learner.
