Calling all "Breath of the Wild" adventurers! This camp is uniquely designed for you. In this camp, I will introduce a new topic of conversation each week through the use of a small collection of fun, engaging 'side quests'. At the end of each session, I will set the students on a new side-quest that they'll need to complete before our next meeting. Session One: We will begin our camp by talking about "Breath of the Wild" and what about the game makes it so appealing. Students will get to spend the majority of class time sharing their stories with each other and taking/asking questions about the various adventures they've had in the game. At the end of class, I will give the students their first side quest! Side Quest One: I will ask students to spend some time roaming through the world of Hyrule on their "Breath of the Wild" game, then write a short journal entry as if they were writing it from the perspective of Link. I will explain in class what basic information I'd like them to incorporate in their journal entries and will briefly touch on writing perspective so that students have a good grasp of how to write their journal entries as if Link were writing them. I will post a handout to the classroom on which they should write the entry. Students will then have the option to share their journal entry with the class during our next session. Session Two: We will spend our class time sharing the journal entries that the students have completed, sharing feedback and taking questions/comments about our entries as time allows (if time runs out before everyone gets a turn, we will finish sharing the entries at the beginning of our next class). At the end of class, students will be given their second side quest. Side Quest Two: I will post a handout to the classroom that has a list of food items that students can search for as they play the game. Students will then be asked to come up with a new food creation that Link could cook using ALL of the ingredients they collect. On the handout, students will be asked to name their food dish, specify what the benefits are of their concoctions, and draw a picture of their finished culinary treats. Students will then share their food creations with the class during our next session. Session Three: Students will spend their class time sharing their food creations with their classmates, sharing feedback and taking questions/comments about their recipes. At the end of class, students will be given their third side quest. Side Quest Three: This quest will be a battle quest! I will ask the students to adventure through Hyrule and defeat a variety of enemies using a 'Battle Scavenger Hunt'. Students will then be asked to use those battles to help them create their own unique enemy that they think would be a cool addition to the list of enemies that can be found throughout Hyrule. Students will complete a handout that I will provide in the classroom to draw a picture of the creature, list its strengths and weaknesses, and list what loot they drop once they are defeated. Session Four: Students will get to share the enemies they create with the rest of the class, sharing feedback and taking questions/comments about their creatures.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am offering this project-based learning opportunity because I believe that they're highly effective due to the way they incorporate multiple aspects of learning. It's always great for kids to take the skills they're learning and have the opportunity to apply them in a fun, exciting, real-world scenario. I have used several project-based learning activities in my own teaching and am always so pleased to see the students engaged with what they're learning!
