This 5 week course covers the basics of living away from home from planning a budget, to food shopping, weekly household tasks, types of bank accounts and how to make phone calls/write emails to businesses.

This course will cover a different topic each week based on the story of Jo, who is moving out of home and heading to a new college away from his home town. Week 1 - What costs do I need to pay? This will cover what bills and expenses that need to be covered and how to create a budget. Week 2 - How do I do a weekly shop? The learning goal is to prepare the student with the basic understanding of the life skills needed to live away from home.
Each week the learner will be required to reflect on the class and how it will apply to them and a journal/plan will be built by the student.
Pen/pencil and paper for note taking
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
