In this lesson, the young learners will learn the seven principles of Leave No Trace. This is a very useful and important concept when going on outdoor adventures. We will practice each principle with a fun gesture. This will help us to remember all seven of them! These principles include: plan ahead and prepare, travel and camp on durable surfaces, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find, minimize campfire impacts, respect wildlife, and be considerate of other visitors. Outdoor ethics is something I’m passionate about and look forward to teaching the younger generations. We will start the class off by introducing ourselves by name and where we live. The learners will also be able to share any outdoor camping activities or adventures they have attended. By using hand gestures and chants, we will be able to recite the seven principles of Leave No Trace as a group. This is so much fun and a great way to remember how to take care of our planet! I really enjoy having more open discussions throughout lessons, so please encourage your learner to share what they know or want to know. If your learner would like to share an experience, please encourage them to!
