In this one-time course, students will learn their shapes by playing with play dough. Play dough is a great sensory activity that enhances and enriches the learning process. Students will be taught the shape, discuss the number of sides, and any other defining characteristic of a shape. They will then see the teacher "think aloud" about how they might use their play dough to create the shape. They will the be encouraged to create the shape out of play dough. They will hold their creations up for the class to see! They will then review the characteristics of the shapes before moving onto the next one.
Learning Goals
Students will identify and create as many shapes as time allows, including: circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, heart, and star.
