55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will need to come to class with an object built with Lego (or similar brand) bricks they have prepared in advance. They will need to take no longer than 15 minutes to build this object. It needs to be something unique. They will then share a minute explanation of the object. This will be done orally to practice public speaking skills. I will then teach different types of graph such as line, pie, and bar. Students will then practice graphing by counting the bricks shown. They will need a sheet of paper and writing utensil for this activity. I will then demonstrate the comparison of the weight of the object versus the weight of lego brick. Students will practice estimation by orally guessing the weight of the object.
Learning Goals
Students will learn public speaking, science, and math skills while having fun with Legos.
