We will learn the differences in these words as well. We will finish class reading some of the fairy dialogue in A Midsummer Nights Dream. This will only be done so the students can see how different and how strange the speaking and dialogue is in that era. The fourth class will concentrate specifically on Broadway. During our previous class, We touched on the idea but this lesson will be 100% dedicated to musicals. We will learn about the original Broadway and New York City. We will discuss how the original Theatre's were built and constructed as well as the new Theatre's. We will learn the following words associated with musical scripts: libretto, duet, solo, music notes, lyrics, costumes and the difference between loud singing (forte) and soft singing (pianissimo). We will finish class by singing a short song together using the new words and applying them to the document on the power point. The fifth class will concentrate on Acting and bring back our key terms: method acting and technical acting. This class will mainly consist of scripts loaded on a power point for the students to read-through with Teacher and their classmates. This class we will review all of our previous songs and dialogue. This will be compacted into a small performance for our last lesson together. This lesson we will rehearse and discuss what will be expected during our final class. Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Sasha, and I like to teach programs in: performing arts, theatre, singing, acting, and writing. I focus on play writing for older students. I like to introduce younger students to a program that doesn't impose too much pressure. I do this by focusing on exercises to help "ready" a young performer like tongue twisters and short nursery rhymes. I focus a lot on stage fright in both young and older students. I also teach formal English for students K-5th grade, and focus mainly on reading and comprehension.
Professionally, I have worked in public Theatre for 10 years. I have worked with children in a learning environment for 13 years, and I continue to tutor students in a live informal environment in English as a second language. I have worked in public schools K-12, and have tutored in all different subjects.
I think that learning should be fun. I see it as a helpful guide to learning difficult subjects. Why not allow a student to learn in their own way rather than force them into your own box of learning? My values in class are to be respectful, considerate, and willing to change the world. Big ideas for little people. I have performed in over 60 theatrical productions country-wide. I've co-directed children's theatre in nearly 15 shows, and my favorite musical is currently Shek!
