Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this on-going class, students will learn and practice decoding patterns to help segment and sound out words. These skills and patterns include digraphs, blends, r-controlled vowels, vowel teams, various syllable types, and much more. This class is designed for students who already know all their letter sounds and CVC words and are now ready to learn the next decoding patterns and skills. Sight words will be presented and taught in each class as well. In addition, learners will participate in decoding a short reading. After class, students will get a copy of the decodable words, sight words, and short reading that we practiced in class. They can continue to read this and build fluency. These classes do not build upon each other so your learner can join at anytime!

With seventeen years of professional development, I am excited to offer this class that implements research-based reading strategies that use systematic phonics to support decoding words for reading.
