Class Experience

US Grade 1
In this 8 week class, students will immerse themselves into mastering first grade sight words. We will focus on repetition, memorization, reading and writing. In each class, we will have 3 different sight words that we will focus on for that class. Students will start by reading each word and clapping out the syllables. We will then move to writing out the words three times each. I will be demonstrating this with them. Each student will practice writing their words in spiral notebook that they will keep throughout our time together in this class. This will allow them to keep practicing their sight words and be able to review what we have covered in class.
We will use each sight word in a sentence. Each student will have the ability to create their own sentences using the sight words of the day if they choose.
By the end of each class, the goal will be for each learner to have mastered each sight word of the day and to be able to read, write, and recognize these words.

I will send a worksheet the day before each class that can be printed and brought to class. It will have our sight words of the day and the ability to practice writing each word.

This is an ongoing class and students are welcome to join or leave at any time. We will review words from the previous weeks, but new students will feel welcome.
