In this class we will go completely through the lifecycle of a cell. I will go through each stage in detail and what happens in each. We will go over all the check points the cell has and what is checked during each one. This class will include all the steps of interphase, mitosis/meiosis, and cytokinesis. We will NOT discuss in great detail the steps in mitosis/meiosis, since that is a very lengthy topic and a different class I offer. This is a lecture-type class, but I love interaction. I will provide both 3-D and 2-D images to enhance the understanding of these topics. I like to keep class fun and upbeat!
Learning Goals
Students will be able to understand how a cell is formed, what it does after it is formed, and how that cell will mature and prepare for division.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Mrs. Shae. I have my bachelors degree in Biology from Carson-Newman University. I have taken numerous upper level science courses such as genetics, microbiology, zoology, biochemistry, and organic chemistry. I am a lover for all things science. I enjoy helping young learners dive into the microscopic world of science! Biology can feel like a very overwhelming subject in school, and it often does not come easy to most. I hope to break down the content in a fun, easy way so the learner will process and retain the information longer. I love helping students develop a passion and appreciation for their world around them, even if it is on the unseen level. My classes will include cellular biology on basic levels for the most beginner learner and more advanced levels for science-enthusiasts like me. While I do have a love for all things science and biology, my true passions lie with veterinary medicine. I will offer classes for young learners who are interested in going into veterinary medicine, but do not know what all it takes to get there. (This will be based on United States requirements) I did not have anyone to help prepare me for a "checklist" towards veterinary school, so I would love to offer that for students who are interested in pursuing this dream. I am not a veterinarian, but I am in the process of applying to veterinary school for my second time. I was a veterinary technician for 5 years while attending college, so I will offer a variety of classes on various topics in the veterinary field and animal care. I have a lot of experience with animals from a young age growing up on a farm all the way into adulthood working for a high-paced veterinary hospital. I have over 5 years experience teaching children. I have been with VIPkid for over two years with over 3,200 online classes under my belt. I enjoy online teaching very much. I love hands on learning, and I will try to incorporate this as much as possible for my youngest learners. For older learners and more complex topics, I will teach visual based style, providing a lot of videos and images to help the learner understand the topic. I naturally have an up-beat, friendly personality, so my goal is to keep everyone actively engaged and having fun!
Fun fact about me: I have 3 French-Bulldogs and one Golden-doodle! You might get to see one of my "Frenchies" in some of my French-Bulldog classes. Come learn with me!
