Description
Class Experience
Students will learn proper posture and hand/wrist position at the piano, finger numbers (both hands), steady beat, black key groupings on the piano, the music alphabet, letter names of white keys, basic rhythms (quarter, half, and whole notes; quarter and half rest), dynamics (forte and piano), and tempo (fast, medium, slow).
Students will need to practice songs they have learned on the piano and review musical concepts using flash cards or worksheets a minimum of one hour per week (e.g., 10 minutes a day/6 days per week).
Piano or Keyboard with at least 61 keys (5 octaves) Materials to be provided by the teacher
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment through observation will be the primary means of measuring student progress in this class.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
