Does your budding little reader love Santa? In this one-time class, your child will write a mini-book about him (with the copy provided and the teacher's help). We will read a fun poem together about Santa Claus, sing a fun little song, and then we will talk about the sight words we will use for the book and how to write them (he, is, no). I will walk them page by page through a book that we will all author together. Along the way, students will also learn many concepts about print such as...
Sight word practice: reading and writing the sight words (he, is, no) Literacy skills learned throughout the lesson: capital letters, punctuation, letter formation, initial sounds, spaces between words, left-to-right movement across print, reading fluency.
I am a former first grade teacher and Literacy Coach with extensive training in Reading Recovery intervention methods, as well as years of one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction.
I would encourage the students to reread their books and continue to practice the new sight words learned. ;)
2 files available upon enrollment-print, cut, and staple book before class -pencil -markers or crayons for coloring, if time
