Learning Nature Through Literature With Mrs. Bell
What's included
30 live meetings
17 hrs 30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class is part of my Learning Through Literature Series. We will work on fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills while learning about interesting parts of nature. Each week we will focus on one story to build on fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills. We will also do a fun short project that your child can present on day 3 of the week (optional). My classes are very engaging and your child will have a chance to read each class, share in discussion and participate with question/giving answers each class. I do keep my classes very routine. We will start by going over vocabulary, sometimes a quick National Geographic video that will go along with what we're reading, read the story, and work on comprehension skills. The class outline for each week is below. The stories will begin on a level L, so your child should be reading close to that reading level. If you aren't sure, please reach out to me and I can give you a quick fluency passage to see if your child is ready for this class. My goal is to help your child increase their reading reading skills by improving their fluency and comprehension by the end of the 10 weeks, and at the same time learning about nature while improving those skills. All the stories will be projected on the screen, so you do not have to purchase anything. I teach a variety of different classes geared toward elementary students ages 3 and up. I love student participation and encourage it in all my class.
I have 16 years of teaching experience. I teach 4th grade ELA in a public school in NYS and have been teaching for 4 years on Outschool. I have a Masters in Elementary Education, Bachelors in History, Associates in Business. I have taught Pre-k, K, and ESL online. I have taught all subjects. Over my 16 years of teaching, I have gone to many different trainings in ELA, math, behavioral and I am trained in Logics by Ortan Gillingham and currently training and using restorative practices.
I believe every child can learn but not all through the same method. Learning needs to be fun and engaging and needs to be a memorable experience for students to truly understand it.
I am a mom to five wonderful kids ages 6-12. They keep me busy and I love being their number one teacher!
