Your student will learn what Mindfulness is and how to put it into practice in their daily life! We learn how to Meditate, how meditation can help our bodies and practice it together each week.

Homework
Students can ask for additional resources and materials on Mindfulness skills and how to practice meditation skills. Students can ask for resources and materials to help understand how Meditation helps your body and why we need to practice self regulation.
Grading
I will provide feedback upon request

Class Experience

In this Group class we will learn together what Mindfulness is and how we can all individually add it into our lives. When we are living in the future we tend to be anxious and when we are living in the past we tend to be depressed. We will discuss as a group how we can practice being more present in our daily lives. 

Being in a live group setting allows students to see that they are not alone needing to add these skills to their life, making it more likely they will use these skills in the future and practice them. Students will learn about the basics of Meditation and how these skills can help our bodies. We will practice new ways to Meditate so that students can find the ways that work best for them. 

My teaching style is to meet my students where they are and meet their needs. I try to add some humor and always compassion. I understand how difficult it can be for students to work with someone they do not know. I try my best to help students feel comfortable while learning skills that I hope will help them become the best version of themselves. 

Each week we cover a new topic- 
*Information Based- Lecture class- Teaching about the topic but also students are encouraged to join in the conversation
*Skills based- class that students are taught skills and will be given time to practice- Students are encouraged to practice these skills in between classes- Practice Makes Permanent!
* Student Led- Students are encouraged to discuss with the group members what they have learned the last two weeks 
Each week students will become more independent of the group and more confident of their skills.

This class can support any learner's needs. Please reach out at the time of enrollment and let me know if you have any specific concerns. I will do my best to accommodate your learner and their needs.
Parental Guidance
This class is not Therapy based nor do students use this platform as a therapeutic outlet. This class should not take the place of mental health services or help. This class is educational based only, does not treat or diagnose any mental health disorders or diagnoses.
Supply List
No Materials needed- Perhaps more so just a comfortable area to be able to stretch if needed. A quiet space to be able to meditate.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a clinical licensed social worker with a certification in trauma therapy. I have my masters in social work and my bachelors in social work. I have worked in several different settings and have a background in the following; in home ABA therapy, domestic violence, therapist at a therapeutic day school, clinical therapist at an inpatient hospital, and private practice therapy. My specialty is trauma, disordered eating and anxiety disorders. I have significant experience working with children and adolescents who struggle with anxiety. 

I thoroughly enjoy making curriculum and teaching. I enjoy working with kids and feel it is the best preventative work we can do. Let's add these skills now while they are young!
