In this 8 week course, students will learn a new lesson each week about taking care of themselves, such as laundry, simple cooking and baking, babysitting skills, managing chore and babysitting money and more.

Lifeskills covered in class will be in the following order: Week 1: Laundry Do's and Don'ts Week 2: Cooking Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Garlic Bread Week 3: Microwaveable Mug Cake Week 4: Baking and Frosting Cupcakes Week 5: Babysitting Basics - Entrepreneurial Skills Week 6: Managing Money by Learning Financial Principles Week 7: Cleaning and Organizing Basics Week 8: Taking Care of Pets The lessons will occur live and be demonstrated by me with students following along each step of...
Week 1: Students will learn how to measure laundry detergent, sort clothing, use the washer and dryer and empty the dryer lint trap. Week 2: Students learn how to safely brown ground beef, boil spaghetti noodles and bake easy garlic bread. Week 3: Students make a safe and simple after school snack using the convenient microwave. Week 4: Students learn how to bake and frost box cupcakes. Week 5: Babysitting can be so much more interesting with these safety and activity tips. Week 6: Saving strategies for chore and babysitting money will be discussed. Week 7: Cleaning the bathroom and closet can be a chore - this lesson teaches cleaning tips. Week 8: The basics of feeding, watering and grooming cats and dogs is the focus of this class.
I teach Lifeskills classes during the school year and have extensive experience teaching students how to do laundry, and prepare and plate foods, adding to their self efficacy and eating pleasure. As a Family & Consumer Science educator, I have much experience training students in life skills and making their own delicious foods. These lifeskill classes will help your student grow confidence in multiple areas such as planning ahead, problem solving, reading comprehension and food creation. Your student will enjoy being prepared for future family dinners and life in general.
