Learning Letters of The Alphabet (Ongoing class)

In this on-going class, your child will learn 2 letters of the alphabet a week (one letter per session). Letters of the alphabet will be introduced in a systematic sequence (Orton-Gillingham approach) that helps gives learners the opportunity to eventually read short vowel (CVC) words. Learners will get hands-on practice of learning the letters through songs, poems, letter writing practice, and engaging phonics games. This class is great for children who are entering pre-school or Kindergarten and ESL students. This class can also benefit children who have trouble remembering letters taught. Your child does not need any previous knowledge of the letters of the alphabet and your child can join this class at any point in the sequence. Each week a letter writing practice page will be sent to families to print before the class begins.

Sample Class Structure:
1. Introduction to the Letter of the Week
2. Brainstorm words that begin with that letter
3. Letter Writing Practice
4. Reading short vowel words (this activity will be done once a certain amount of letters have been taught)
5. Phonics game/activity
