Beginner Level
In this beginner class, students will learn to speak and write Igbo. During this class, students will learn how to greet, introduce themselves (name, age and where they are from), count, and describe their body parts, and color. Students will be learning from a native Igbo speaker who will ensure that the right accent is used to pronounce the words and to speak. I will make the students comfortable in the class to ensure every learner participates. This class will be taught in English and Igbo (40% Igbo, and 60% English). Below are topics that will be covered in this beginner class: Week 1 (09/08) : Count from 0 – 10 Week 2 (09/15) : Greetings Week 3 (09/22) : Polite words Week 4 (09/29) : Count from 11 – 20 Week 5 (10/06) : Animals Week 6 (10/13) : Family - introduce family members. Week 7 (10/20) : Introduce yourself - Basic conversation. Week 8 (10/27) : Body Parts Week 9 (11/3) : Colors in Igbo Week 10 (11/10) : Fruits Week 11 (11/17) : Vegetables Week 12(11/24) : Things around the house Week 13 (12/1) : Things in the classroom Week 14(12/8) : Sounds Please have pencils, a notebook and a class printout (will send before class), crayons/or coloring pencils, ready for class. This class is great for beginners - no experience or prior knowledge is required, but helpful.
