Class Experience

Week 1 - Essay - personal/reflective, opinion/persuasive
Week 2 - Nonfiction - how to research, how to cite
Week 3 - Creative Writing - your own tone, your own voice, flow and narrative structure

In this class students will come with a written piece or a new prompt and practice their skills. It is also student directed so if a week doesn't apply to what the student needs, then we will change to direct what the student needs.

Here we will work to strengthen our skills in writing. We will work on editing, grammar, and flow of writing all while becoming more creative even in nonfiction pieces.

The goal is to have the student write something that they feel proud of and complete assignments.

Prompts can be brought by student or provided by me.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a wide array of interests and a wide academic background. I am also interested in teaching specialty classes working with parents and students for their specific 1 on 1 needs. I plan to work in scaffolding skills back into the classroom, critical thinking, and writing classes more than other styles of classes. I have a bachelor's degree and about 6 years teaching experience from small children to adults. I believe in these tutoring lessons to let the students lead as much as possible and to show me what they need to know or learn the most. I am a kind and patient style teacher who isn't unable to adapt to new circumstances or tangential questions. I love to write and paint and other creative endeavors I can get my hands on like starting a garden soon.... and I have a cat and a rat!

I have 6+ experience teaching all age ranges from children with low skills and learning issues to adults with high skills/low skills and learning issues. I have no problem with working within whatever means you have and skills you need to the best of my ability, and if I can't do something, I'll say so. I have my own lived experience with it and my strategies developed over the years of working.
