Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
This class is all about the American Girl Doll Molly Mcintire! In this 3 week class, student will enjoy learning about life in America during World War II, while also learning about the American Girl Doll Molly. The students do not have to pre-read the books before class! In week 1, we will learn all about the countries that were involved in World War II. In week 2, we will learn about what life in America was like in 1943 for girls Molly's age. We will also talk about what life was like in World War II in England and how Molly's friend, Emily, comes to live with her. Finally, in week 3, we will end the class by making patriotic cookies and a cookie jar for our dolls (using Americangirlideas.com)
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify the countries that were involved during World War II, and be able to identify them on a map. 
The Students will be able to identify what life was like for Americans during World War II, and the sacrifices that children had to make. 
The students will be able to explain what life for children in America and England was like for children Molly's age. Lastly, the students will make patriotic cookies and a cookie jar for their dolls.

Supply List
There will be a few worksheets to print before the first two classes, so make sure to check the classroom a few days before the class starts! Students can print the worksheet off before class! For the last class and the craft students will need: an empty glass baby food jar, a chap-stick or glue-stick lid, tan craft foam, red, white & blue puffy paint, a toothpick, a glue gun (or strong glue to hold the glue stick lid to the lid of the baby food jar), sliver paint *optional.
