Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
In this ongoing one on one ESL class. Students that have a moderate knowledge of English will continue learning English through story telling. No materials, knowledge of subjects, or outside studying is needed for this course. Every class will be different and will be presented on slides. We will cover topics, such as: fables, animals around the world, sports, and much more. Each class students will learn vocabulary words pertaining to the lesson, they will then read a story based on the topic of that days lesson and review their vocabulary words. After reading the story, students will answer comprehension questions about the story. The lessons for the next four weeks are...

Week 1 12/9 (Underwater Animals)

Week 2 12/16 (Underwater Animals 2)

Week 3 12/23 (Outer Space)

Week 3 12/30 (Fairytale Monsters)

My teaching style is catered to the students English ability. Students should know moderate amount of English for this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Tonya!

I teach many classes that are theatre, crafting, and fan based. My professional background is in Theatre. In my classes students will learn the importance of developing a character, practicing a monologue, preparing for auditions, telling stories through song.

I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelors degree in Speech and Theatre. I also have a minor in music, with a focus on voice. I have performed in professional and community theaters all around Nashville, Tennessee for the past 20 years. I also have 20 years of acting, dancing, and singing experience. I love theatre! Theatre gives us a chance to express ourselves and also learn many valuable life lessons, such as accountability and commitment. I am a fun loving energetic teacher. My goal is for each student to feel safe, heard, and having fun while learning.

I live in Lebanon, Tennessee. I am married with a dog as my child. My professions are teaching children theatre as a teaching artist for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Crafter, and ESL teacher. My hobbies and interests are Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, crafting, singing, musicals.

I hope to have the honor of having your child in class!
