Do you have awesome Pokémon cards you want to show off? Come and learn with us! In this class we will learn about nouns, verbs, and adjectives then create a Pokémon themed story. Students can bring their two favorite Pokémon cards or toys to show off and use to help them think of different nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We will use those words to fill in our Pokémon story, then I will read our creative piece aloud to the class. Students will practice fluency and intonation by reading specific sentences that end with a period, question mark, and exclamation mark. Any reading level welcome! This class will be interactive so students should be comfortable speaking online if they would like to participate. Class outline: -Students will introduce themselves and the cards or toys they brought -Students will learn definitions of nouns, verbs, and adjectives -Students will take turns creating words using their cards -Teacher will read the story once using word list, then students will practice intonation of sentences This class is also offered as an ongoing class for additional practice with different stories each week! The ongoing class focuses more on student-led reading with strategies for fluency.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Baylor University - Waco, Texas
Hello! Mrs. Alison here! I am a certified K-12 ELA/ESL writing teacher for the state of Texas with over eleven years of teaching experience in the classroom and online and degrees in psychology, linguistics, and sociology. I am also a published children's book author and professional editor! Mix that all together and you have someone who desires to see the next generation of learners be equipped to change the world through writing - and be who they were made to be!
My “Be You & Become a Better Writer” classes are for learners between the ages of 8-12 who want to embrace who they are while learning to become better at writing. It is my desire to have learners feel the freedom to express themselves through writing while developing the skills to articulate it, whether they are writing fiction stories, poems, essays, or even personal experiences. I believe everyone has a story to tell and a voice to share. I want learners to know the potential each one of them has when they put pen to paper (or fingers to keys).
In my classroom, learners will think critically and be able to communicate clearly through writing all while being creative and passionate about the things they love!
I love meeting learners from all over the world and getting to learn from them as well. So far I have taught learners from over 35 countries and all but 3 states!
I am looking forward to growing and learning along with all the learners in my classroom!
