In this 5 week class, we will dive into Ancient Greece, learning about Alexander the Great and places, including the Parthenon, while doing some hands-on activities! This class is a great addition to homeschool or in-school curriculum.

US Grade 2 - 5
This class will explore Ancient Greece and dive deeper into Ancient Greek customs and some individuals from that time. I have been a teacher on Outschool since 2020 and I teach on 2 additional online platforms. I have a biology background, however, I studied US and World History for 3 years in college, as well as 2 years of Chinese. I have also trained in a non-credited format, for many years, with an author and speaker who specializes in teaching children character qualities. I have always enjoyed teaching. My first teaching position was in Moscow, Russia, teaching English as a second language. Since then, I’ve taught in various settings which include a cooperative, a preschool, and as a tutor in the areas of math, science, and English. I also am a homeschool mom! I have taught this class to different groups at a cooperative, for both lower and upper elementary students. I enjoy teaching a subject or principle and including different areas of study along with the original idea.
Homework Offered
Reading of the weekly book and book based project. I will also send links and printables to aid in the experience.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will only provide assessments if parents request this and it it is requested prior to the first class. I can provide assessments on projects or general participation. The assessment will be done via message to the parent.Grades Offered
I will not grade students unless parents request this prior to the first class. I will assess the projects done, participation, and completed work (including the book), and combine for a general grade for each class. At the end of the 5 weeks, I will give a grade for the overall class.
While not designed for any needs, I do understand various types of learning and learning needs. This is why I include different ways to deliver materials and instructions.
Students will need a copy of the book, which I will email a list to parents after enrollment. Books can be downloaded on a Kindle device instantly, purchased directly, or borrowed from the library. Students will also need supplies for their projects. Depending on what they want to do, most supplies will be on hand, such as paper, cardboard, glue, crayons, scissors... and if they'd like to just write a poem or build with legos... that is just as good!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Multiple Greek gods will be discussed. This could be sensitive subjects for some, however, the topics are discussed in an age appropriate way. Should we use Kahoot, which is a game, learners will not need to have an account or browse online. I will give them a link to a private trivia style game that can be played by the class. I am a certified teacher on Kahoot. I seldom use actual YouTube in my academic classes, however, if done, I will screen share my screen... students will not be asked to visit YouTube. Slides shared in class are also done so by screen sharing.
