Beginner Level
In this class, students will learn multiple strategies to solve their multiplication facts 2-12. Being able to quickly compute the multiplication facts is critical to comfort and success in math. Knowing the multiplication facts gives students confidence as they move up through their math education. For many students, simply memorizing them isn't something that works well. In this class, I will teach a set of strategies that can be used for solving the facts with straight memory isn't working. Each week, students will be provided a video showing strategies to solve each set. This is a flex class and will not have any live meetings. Students will view the instructional video each week and complete an activity to support their multiplication fact learning. Once the week's activity is completed, students will take a picture of it and submit it to me through the classroom portal. Completing these assignments will allow me to provide additional support, if necessary, and respond to any questions. Each week, students will also complete a Kahoot! game where they will "compete" against each other for the week's high score! The game pin for each week will be posted on Monday in the classroom. A discussion thread will be started each week for students to share their favorite strategy for the week's facts. Each week students will identify what fact was tricky before but now feels more comfortable. This format of this class is great for learners who prefer to not be in a live class or learners who prefer working at their own pace!
