Learn With Ms. Price: Learn to Write Interesting, Descriptive Sentences!
What's included
Homework
1 hour per week. As this is an "on demand" class with no live meetings, all work is "homework." Class videos will be watched independently, and printable practice sheets will be made available for written practice. Learners may submit their work for review by the teacher, but this is not required. I do not "grade" the work, but I will comment on what the learner did well and, if desired by the parent, make suggestions for improvement.Class Experience

🎓 Ms. Price is a certified teacher with over a decade of experience teaching elementary-aged learners in a brick & mortar classroom. While Ms. Price has taught all subjects in these grades, she especially loves putting her Bachelor of Arts in English degree to use teaching writing! Ms. Price is passionate about instilling a love of writing in children, so all of her writing classes are taught using highly engaging, fun topics to make the writing process exciting for young learners! 🍏 CLASS FORMAT 🍏 This is a SELF-PACED class, which means there are NO LIVE MEETINGS. The benefit of this type of class is that there is more flexibility in when your learner can do the lessons, while still receiving personalized interaction with a real, interactive teacher--me! 📝 LEARNING OBJECTIVE 📝 Once your young learner has mastered writing simple sentences, they are ready to start adding some creativity to their writing! In this flexible schedule course, learners will be taught how to take a very basic sentence like "I saw a dog" and transform it to something much more interesting and descriptive like, "I saw a brown, fluffy dog running down the sidewalk." While the main learning objective is to learn to write descriptive sentences, we will also review proper punctuation as it relates to what we are writing, including commas, periods, and exclamation points. 👦 👧 WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS? Learners who have mastered the simple sentence and are ready to take their writing to the next level! In general, this is a developing Kindergarten and 1st grade skill in most areas of the United States, or learners approximately ages 5-7. If you have a slightly older learner who could use some help developing this skill, they are welcome to join, as long as you believe the topics will be of interest to them. ⭐️ PLEASE NOTE: To be successful in this class, learners must be able to independently write detailed, complete sentences. We will *not* be covering the basics of what makes a complete sentence. Rather, the expectation is that each learner is coming to the class able to write a short, simple sentence, and we will expand upon that knowledge. 🧍🏻♀️🧍🏽♂️INTERACTION🧍🏻♀️🧍🏽♂️ Although there is not the face-to-face interaction of a live class, your learner will have the opportunity to interact with and receive feedback from a real, live teacher! Ms. Price will provide written feedback on each learner's weekly writing assignment when turned in by the due date. ✨TOPICS TO BE COVERED✨ Week 1: Unicorns 🦄 & Dragons 🐉 Week 2: Puppies 🐶 & Kittens 🐱 Week 3: Mermaids 🧜♀️ & Sea Creatures 🐳 Week 4: Fairies 🧚♂️ & Forest Creatures 🦊 ✨PLEASE NOTE: Each week, I will use both of the above listed topics in my lesson. Then, learners will get to choose one of the two topics to use for their written assignment. This means if your learner is obsessed with unicorns, but doesn't care for dragons, that's okay--they can choose unicorns for their writing! Research shows that learners are more engaged in the writing process when they have some choice as to their topic, and the flex format lends itself beautifully to learners being able to have choice in their writing topic each week! WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A SELF-PACED CLASS VS. A LIVE CLASS? - One obvious benefit of a self-paced class is that you have the *flexibility* to do the class at a time that best works for your family’s schedule! This works well for families in different time zones and also families who have unpredictable schedules and cannot commit to a live class that is at the same time each week. - Another benefit of self-paced classes is that learners can pause, rewind, and re-watch the lesson as many times as they would like. This can be especially helpful for neurodivergent learners. -For learners who may be a bit behind their peers in their writing abilities, a self-paced class offers the opportunity to learn skills without feeling the embarrassment that some learners feel being in a (live) class with younger learners. - Finally, a key benefit of my self-paced classes is that I include personalized, written feedback to each learner, each week.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in English from Texas Woman's University
My name is Rebecca Price, and I am the founder and creator of Learn With Ms. Price, a private teaching business which specializes in developing a love for writing in children and teens!
In 2021, Learn With Ms. Price started offering classes on Outschool in order to reach even more learners from around the world on this global platform. To date, I have taught over 600 learners on the Outschool platform!
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English, along with multiple teaching certifications including: All Subjects EC-4 (Early Childhood through 4th grade), English 6-12 (6th-12th grades), and English as a Second Language (ESL) K-12.
My professional educator's journey began with me teaching in the public school system in Texas for nearly a decade! In that time, I taught a variety of grades from Pre-K through 4th Grade. There was something very special for me about each different age group!
After nearly a decade of teaching in the public schools, I launched my own private teaching business, Learn With Ms. Price, where I have continued my love for mentoring young learners through one-on-one and group educational classes, both in person and online.
In addition to having taught in the public schools, I was home-schooled and in private schools for a significant portion of my education as a child, so I have a broad understanding of the various types of educational backgrounds from which your learner may be coming!
TEACHING STYLE:
My passion as a teacher is to develop a true love of learning in children, no matter the age! The way that I do this is by making sure that my teaching reaches learners who have all different types of learning styles. When a child is given instruction in a way that connects with their unique learning style, they are more easily able to integrate the concepts being taught, which in turn makes them feel successful and enjoy the process of learning! All of my classes are interactive, and your student will have opportunities to engage in a variety of ways throughout the class.
TYPES OF CLASSES I TEACH:
I have experience teaching all subjects in grades Pre-K through 4th grade, but with my degree in English, writing is the subject I'm most passionate about teaching! I offer a variety of writing classes on Outschool, with a focus on making writing fun for young learners. I specialize in one-on-one classes, where I am able to customize lessons to the unique needs of each learner.

POLICIES
REFUND POLICY: I have a limited refund policy, which means refunds are available up to 7 days before class starts (or within 24 hours of enrollment). As your enrollment reserves the spot for your child (and prevents another child from taking that spot), I do not issue refunds for late withdrawals or missed classes.
CLASS RECORDING POLICY: When you register your child for one of my classes, you’re paying for a LIVE, group class experience! I do not release recordings of my live classes (though I do have flex classes available). First and foremost, this is to protect the safety of all learners within the class. Many parents do not want recordings of their children to be made available to strangers, and I respect that through not making recordings available. Secondarily, unfortunately it is common for teacher’s hard work to be copied (stolen) by others, so there is also the need to protect my intellectual property (lessons I have personally created).
