Learn With Me: Sensory Story Time With Playdough
This is a trial of my sensory-friendly recurring story time and playdough/air dry clay class that is coming soon. Each class will include story time, followed by an art project. Don’t worry, I’ll clean up!

FREE WITH COUPON CODE CARTERCLAY10 Calling all “Sensational” Learners Sensory Friendly Story time! Come hear an amazing adventure, a fabulous fairy tale, or beloved book. Class will include story time, art time, and if time allows, a quick clean up. This one time class is Story: Duck Rabbit by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld For class in general: I will need to see your learner on video for a brief check in, per outschool policy. Learners that need to turn off their video may do so after checking in. Staying on screen is preferred but not required. For story time: learners may hold a plushie or fidget. Story time is not show and tell. A plushie or fidget is for the learner’s benefit, not for anyone else’s. Learners may sit, stand, or squirm. I will mute learners if needed during story time so everyone can hear. This means noises are ok! For art time: I will demonstrate things like rolling, stretching and shaping air dry clay or playdough and how to use some common clay tools. The suggested clay project will be related to the book but learners are free to use the materials in unique ways as long as they are safe and appropriate. This means spills are expected. Throwing materials is not. Preschool art is about the experience, not about the product. Learners are not required to copy a model. If time allows, I will guide learners through cleaning up their materials. See supplies for more information on cleaning. Sensory seekers will love getting to squish, stretch, and shape playdough or air dry clay. For sensory avoiders, both the gluten free playdough recipe or the air dry clay are “cleaner” than typical playdough. They are not sticky or flaky. Learners may engage with the materials as little or as much as they choose and progress will be celebrated.

Learners will engage with stories and develop their receptive and expressive language skills.Learners will have an opportunity to try out various fine motor skills and engage with various art materials.

Parental Guidance
This is a one time trial of my upcoming recurring story time and clay class. While I was a preschool teacher for over a decade of my career in education, I am new to outschool. I want to make the best possible story time class for young learners and I am using this one time class as an opportunity to practice timing. We may end a little early or run a little over. Your understanding is appreciated while I fine tune my structure.
I am also testing out the ability to guide learners virtually through a clean up routine. The success of that will vary.
Pre-Requisites
Learners need to be able to engage safely with the art supplies.
Learners need to be able to grasp items and place items.
Learners need to understand basic instructions, even if they do not always follow them.
