Class Experience

In this class student will be learning to form words, sentences, paragraphs, punctuation, capitalization, speed drills and games. Teacher will post weekly videos with view of teachers hands and screen on how to complete each assignment and tips on each method (key) being taught, and on how to set up your environment to help the student follow the recommendations for proper posture while typing. Students will be directed to post after each assignment is completed on how they did, and if they have any questions or comments about this lesson in the classroom under the post from the teacher for that weeks assignments. The teacher will weekly check in with each student via private message in the outschool platform to check in with the student and help keep them on track. Parents will be asked as well to help keep their student on task and complete the weekly assignments given. Student will need to complete assignments weekly to help improve their skills to be able to move to the intermediate and advanced typing classes. Each week, 2-3 assignments will be give with a dues date before the next class. So all assignments students will have a week to complete. All students will be given a letter grade during each lesson they complete. All the games give stars and achievements to help make learning to type fun. Online interactive games will be included for practice. Students will be asked to also play at least one of the games each week and post their score for that game under the Weekly Games post. This will provide an opportunity for students to practice and "beat" the score of other students in the class with the games. The teacher will also participate in this as well as a "student" in the games, so the students can also try to beat the teachers weekly posted scores as well. This helps encourage students to practice after they have completed their weekly assignments with a little fun competition. Students will be given a personal login along with a code to join a website (typing.com) to complete weekly assignments. Students will need to get parents permission to create an account to join class with. (No email is required, just user name and password; which will be provided by teacher before class starts). This login is under a paid account by teacher and is maintained by the teacher. Students are NOT required to pay for or maintain anything with this account, it is under the teachers account. Students who do not complete the class materials within the deadlines for each assignment/s, will be removed from the account within a month after the class has ended.
