In this class, student will learn typing using proper finger placement, position of hands, arms and upper body, all while having fun learning to type.

Welcome to Typing for Beginners. We are going to learn each letter on the qwerty keyboard. A big part of this class is going to depend upon you practicing every day. Doing this will help ensure you will be able to advance each week and your typing skills to continue to improve. Every week each student will be asked to complete the assignments assigned, and once these are completed then repeat lessons for practice or play the game on typing.com website. Students will start learning finger reach method with index and middle finger keys (J, F, Space, U, R, K, D, E, I, C G, N). Progressing through all of the letters with finger reach method with beginning punctuation method.
I have been teaching online for about 15 years, and I have a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology that I completed in an online program. I am also a Homeschool mom for 20+ years. I have taught multiple students to read, write, type, and various other subjects over the years. I enjoy finding that right method to help students learn best that is unique to them. :)
Homework Offered
Student will need to complete assignments weekly to help improve their skills to be able to move to the intermediate and advanced typing classes. All students will be given a letter grade during each lesson they complete.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class

2 files available upon enrollmentStudent will need a computer with a working keyboard and mouse. A printout of the hand placement for each student is available to print if student would like to print it out.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Parents will need to be available to help students with logging into their typing.com account. Parents will also need to ensure students complete weekly assignments. Students will not be allowed to progress through class and to the intermediate level if all assignments are not completed.
