I am trained to teach college-level classes in literature and composition. This class is aimed at older learners who thrive in such environments and want to practice their skills.
Students will read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, along with a few other short texts about things like revision, drafting, etc. All readings should take less than an hour per class. There will be no readings on days when students are expected to spend their homework time working on their final essay.
You will need your own copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. All other readings will be supplied by me through the classroom portal. I will also supply slides with information when appropriate or helpful.
Learners will produce a well-researched essay of literary criticism of approximately 4-5 pages. I will use a rubric to grade their essays with a letter grade.
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland contains some sensitive topics like violent dreams and Victorian-era politics. One of our readings contains mild profanity.
