Learning to type is a fundamental skill that you will always use. In this 4 lesson course learners will go from never having used a keyboard confidently to learning the essential typing skills. In the first lesson there will be a pre-test to gauge the learners’ typing skills. At the end of the course there will be a post-test to show how the learner has improved their skills over the 4 lessons. In their lessons, students will be introduced to specific keys on the keyboard and will complete repetitive practice drills using only those keys. If the student feels they would like to practice more on that skill they are able to practice as much as they like during that lesson. As the class progresses and the learner is learning new keys on the keyboard, they will also be reviewing past keys they have learned building on what they know. Each of the 8 lessons has two attachments to open. 1) A video going over the agenda for that lesson. 2) An assignment that has the link for the Nearpod lesson. Estimated completion time is 4 weeks. After the learner has finished all 4 lessons of the course, they will receive a Certificate of completion. During the 4 weeks, if you have any questions concerning the course, please feel free to send me a message anytime. A laptop or desktop computer with a standard keyboard is required for this class. West Virginia Teaching Certificate
Hi Everyone. Welcome to Outschool. My name is Karen and I’m excited to be able to bring my love of teaching online.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fairmont State University in West Virginia. For 10 years I educated students in Family and Consumer Sciences. I love teaching FACS courses because they help students to develop the essential life skills and knowledge to lead their best lives. It also offers students education to career pathways in:
Education and Training
Human Services
Interior design
Foods and Nutrition
Child and Family Development
In addition to Family and Consumer Science I am certified to teach Safety and Drivers Education, PreK – 5th grade and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). A love of mine is traveling, but not just traveling, having lived in 10 different states, I have immersed myself into the culture of the areas and discovered how each state has a uniqueness all their own. I hope to also share my passion for travel and what makes each state one of a kind.
My teaching style is what I call “structured fun”. When teaching my students about how to educate Preschool children we discuss about how they learn through play. I don’t believe that should just apply to Pre-Schoolers. My classes include a lot of interaction through discussions, games, projects, and fun quizzes.
Hope to see you in my class ready to learn, interact, and have fun!
