Beginner Level
Learning to type is a fundamental skill that you will always use. In this 4-day class learners ages 7-12 will go from never having used a keyboard confidently to learning the essential typing skills. In the first lesson there will be a pre-test to gauge the learners’ typing skills. At the end of the course there will be a post-test to show how the learner has improved their skills over the 4 lessons. Week 1Lesson 1Home Row Keys• Learner will demonstrate their beginning typing skills through a 1- minute typing test. • Learner will be able to identify which hand and finger to use to type the keys on the home row. • Learner will become familiar with the home row keys by completing repetitive exercises.Lesson 2Top Row Keys• Learner will be able to identify which hand and finger to use to type the keys on the top row. • Learner will become familiar with the top row keys by completing repetitive exercises • Learner will practice touch typing by applying what they learned through the previous exercisesLesson 3Bottom Row Keys• Learner will be able to identify which hand and finger to use to type the keys on the bottom row. • Learner will become familiar with the bottom row keys by completing repetitive exercises • Learner will practice touch typing by applying what they learned through the previous exercisesLesson 4Touch Typing Practice• Learner will put into practice the skills they have learned in lessons 1-3. • Learner will demonstrate their improved typing skills through an end of course 1-minute typing test
At the end of the course the learner will: Understand the concept of touch typing have learned the home row, top row and bottom row keys on the keyboard have improved on their typing speed and accuracy
