Class Experience
Introduction to German Longsword (ages 13-18) During this class, students will learn the history of the longsword and the context in which it was used. We will then move into practical applications with physical drills and activities that cover the basic principles of attacking and defending. These drills will focus on the basic lines of attack and fundamental guards. Finally, we will put everything together in combination drills. A sword like object is recommended for the class. Something that could be held in two hands, a broom handle or a dowel. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

Due to the nature of it being a physical class, it is advisable that parents can provide an environment where the student could move freely and not have any fragile items in the near vicinity.
