Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 6
Beginner Level
During this series of fun and interactive lessons, children will learn the French language through songs, slides, games and repetition. Ms. Colleen is a bilingual (French and English) teacher who has been sharing fun language lessons with children for many years. Her patient and calm teaching style helps children who are new to foreign language learning feel confident and at ease. No prior experience with French is necessary. Each week learners will practice reading and speaking French. I will go slowly while explaining each topic to make sure each concept is grasped by the learner. Printed materials and/or online games will be provided each week to help reinforce what is learned in each lesson. This is not a French Immersion class. Instruction is given in English , but the learner will be encouraged to repeat and practice the new words and phrases learned.

Hi, I'm Ms. Colleen.
I'm an Early Childhood Educator and home educating parent. I have my degree in Child Study from Mount Saint Vincent University and I have been teaching for 28 years. I am also a certified EFL (English as a Foreign Language) instructor. I speak both English and French. In 2020 I discovered my love of teaching online. I guess every cloud really does have a silver lining! My family and I live in beautiful Atlantic Canada. I'm excited to share fun and interactive learning activities with your children! Teaching is truly my passion and that shines through in my lessons. My teaching style is calm, patient, and warm. I believe that childhood is a journey, not a race. I love to learn new things and I try to instill a love of learning through my lessons. I love to laugh. I like to incorporate singing into my lessons because I believe it helps learners relax and absorb information, especially when learning a new language. I hope to see you soon in one of my classes!
