Class Experience

After completing my beginner course OR with the basic knowledge of C, G, Am, and F chords as well as the DD UU D (down down up up down) strum pattern, learners can enroll in this level 2 class.

In this course, we will cover Em, A, and D chords and learn at least one new song. Students should engage in the classroom before our video meetings to ensure we are learning songs that will be new to them. Some songs we might learn in level 2:
We Are Gonna Be Friends by The White Stripes
Turn the World Around by Harry Belafonte
Games by Tessa Violet
Fireflies by Owl City
Let It Be by the Beatles
Don't Start Now by Duo Lippa
or whatever your learner wants!

I am a very flexible teacher who likes to give students autonomy and choices in the classroom so if your learner wants to learn any song with C, G, Am, F, D, or Em chords in them--I will try my hardest to accommodate. I also do a lot of one on one question answering and move at the pace of our slowest learners while giving tips and ways to move on to those going more quickly than others.

We will also touch on the history of the ukulele, different strum patterns, and explore the kinds of music that are playable on the soprano/concert ukulele.

Learning Goals

We will cover Em, A, and D chords and learn at least one new song.
Students will learn more about the ukulele and gain some confidence playing the instrument.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome to my page! I am a professional actor and a summer camp counselor who teaches ukulele to kids of all ages. I also offer classes for audition prep, scene work, and bullet journaling!

I have worked as a counselor at camps around the United States for over eight years with kids of all ages physically and developmentally. I have experience working with groups as well as teaching one on one, and so here on Outschool I offer both small group classes and private lessons.

As an actor, director, writer, and producer, I have worked on murder mysteries, children's theater, short plays, musicals, and voice acting in video games, immersive theater, and podcasts.

I value an inclusive learning environment so no matter your identity or background--I want to make art together! Every student can learn a new skill, learning should be fun, and no questions are too silly.

Parents feel free to message me if you'd like me to schedule a session on a specific day or time! My inbox is always open!

FUN FACT: My favorite musical is Les Mis, so much so that my cat's name is Gavroche.
