As a Broadway performer- I can tell you that I love music! It moves people! It inspires people! It allows for self expression! And it's free! Music is a joy and it provides meaning and enables expression during times of stress. In this course, students will be introduced to their voices. They will learn basic vocal anatomy and physiology, the tenants of vocal health, and most importantly- how to use their voices! Education will be provided through the lens of acoustic and physiological models but in a fun way, I promise! We'll explore how the voice works, how we hear, and how to make music. We'll watch videos, solve puzzles, and sing! Class Outline: Experiment 1: Interactive participation activity demonstrating voice physiology Experiment 2: Interactive participation activity demonstrating vocal acoustics Hands on Practice: How do we actually do this? Exercise 1- Vocal Warm ups Exercise 2- Technique and ear training Exercise 3- Putting it all together - Let's make music! Course recap: Next steps, how to keep improving on your own and how to track your progress

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am offering this class because I love music! It's a free means of creative expression and lessons have been linked to increase academic performance and achievement. After spending almost a decade on Broadway, I went back to grad school where I learned about voice physiology and acoustic perception. Now, it's time for me to start giving back. I had amazing teachers and I want to give other students the opportunity to learn from a professional. This is why I believe in this course and why I'm uniquely qualified to teach it. Join us to and raise your voice!
