Learn to Read Through Phonics With Mrs. Rose: This on-going, full year curriculum class based on the Science of Reading, will begin with instruction of letters and sounds. It is appropriate for learners who are ready for preschool/kindergarten as well as ESL learners. While each class builds upon the next class, learners may join at anytime. Students will learn the letter sounds, as well as practice writing the letter symbol. Each lesson will incorporate phonemic awareness exercises for beginning sounds, and written practice of the letter symbols. Students will be introduced how to combine the sounds learned to read words. Students do not need any letter sound knowledge to be successful in this class.
REQUIRED Materials: magnetic lowercase letters and a cookie sheet (or magnetic dry erase board) pencil and printed materials (These will be in the classroom and sent to learners Sunday evening. If you enroll after Sunday, I will send them as soon as I see the learner has enrolled.) One marker (I have found markers to work best, as then I can see the writing when students share.) One dry erase board with marker, and eraser
