In this ongoing class, learners will be introduced to a new word family each session. Learners will practice segmenting and blending words. Segmenting and blending are foundational to phonemic awareness and producing proficient readers.

🔻Learning word families opens up opportunities to read numerous words.

🔻Word families help learners to see that many words share common patterns.

🔻Since word families have predictable patterns, it makes learning new words much easier on beginning readers.

Beginning readers will learn to read and recognize new words through hands on activities, discussion, and independent practice.

This ongoing class will focus on one syllable words.

Learners will interact with me and other students throughout each lesson as we complete activities together. Learners will need prior knowledge of all individual letter sounds.

Each learner will receive a mini word family booklet to print after each class. This can be used to practice the word family that was learned in class.

This class is also great for ESL students!
