Class Experience
Sight words/high frequency words are one of the foundational skills needed for beginner readers to master. Sight words/high frequency words are in 50-70% of text that students will read! Knowing these words by "sight" will decrease their effort in decoding, and increase their comprehension (understanding) of the overall text. Students will learn to read, write, and spell 44 sight words/high frequency words. This will give them a great foundation and confidence for beginner readers.
1) Journal 2) Magnetic Letters/Letter Tiles (or you can cut your own letters up with index cards) 3) Printable materials that will be provided 4) Play-Doh
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
